Most manufacturers of heat pumps, air conditioners, or other heat emitting equipment will advise you against covering their products. A cover can restrict air flow, interfere with safe operation, and void your heat pump or air con warranty. For these reasons, we do not recommend covering any heat pumps or air conditioners with a SlatMe Pool Pump Cover unless you’ve received advice from the manufacturer that it’s safe to do so. If your heating equipment can be safely covered, we can remove the slats that sit over the air vents for increased air flow. However, we can’t guarantee the suitability of this solution for your needs.
Our Pool Pump covers are pool safe when installed outside the non-climbable zone of your pool fencing. If you would like to install your pool pump cover within the non-climbable zone, please contact us for advice on whether or not this would be suitable for your site. Alternatively, you can contact a licenced pool safety certifier for specific advice regarding the ideal placement of your pool pump cover.
SlatMe products are made from powdercoated aluminium, which is virtually maintenance free. To freshen up the finish and keep your pump cover looking its best, wash regularly with a soft cloth and mild pH neutral detergent, then rinse thoroughly with fresh water.
If you are unsure about your plumbing or electrical, please take a photo of your space and email the dimensions to [email protected] so we can help find the best solution for you.
Some minor modifications and custom sizing may be possible, depending on your requirements. For example, if you are installing in front of a timber or Colorbond fence, or have electrical units to accommodate, we can provide a free standing unit without any rear slats. We can also provide pump covers without slats on either the left or right sides to accommodate corner installs and plumbing. Please contact us for more info regarding these customisations so we can work out if they would be suitable for your space. Please send photos and measurements if possible for more specific advice.
Step One: Measure your pool equipment to work out the minimum area that you need to cover.
Step Two: Browse our site to see which pool pump cover best suits your space.
Step Three: Once you’ve selected a size, measure your pool area again to double check it works in your space.
All SlatMe pool pump covers are constructed from the highest quality aluminium, and are built strong and tough for outdoor use.
Yes, but please contact us first to discuss the installation process for weatherboards before going ahead, as there may be a couple of extra steps required depending on your set up.
While this is technically possible, we do not recommend direct fixing to a timber or Colorbond fence, as these types of fences are typically not strong enough to support the pump cover. Fixing screws can also protrude through the back of your fence (upsetting the neighbours!). A better solution is to order a free standing model, and ask us about customising this to remove the rear slats.
No – all of the slats are pre-welded into the frames for extra strength and durability, and to save you time during installation.
Our handy DIY Kits feature a clever design for easy assembly within 2 to 4 hours. Pre-welded panels save time on the ground, and detailed instructions and diagrams, with optional phone support, make installation a breeze.
The legs of both the freestanding and wall mounted pump covers will need to be fixed to a concrete slab at the feet. The wall mounted pump cover must also be attached to a wall horizontally along the rear of the lid and vertically at the rear of both side panels.
SlatMe Pump Covers are best suited to a tradesman or experienced home handyman who can use a drill and is comfortable using self drilling metal tek screws with aluminium. You’ll need to use a masonry drill bit to secure the pump cover to the concrete slab; and standard metal drill bits for the rest. Install will take between 2 – 4 hours.
Our instruction sheet is extremely detailed, but if you get really stuck, you can contact our Customer Service Team and one of our advisors will give you a Mr Miagi style pep talk to get you back on track. Depending on your area, we may also be able to put you into contact with a local tradesman who can complete the install for you.
If you’re not a D.I.Y-er, we recommend either: convincing a tradie mate to install the pump cover for you (we reckon it’s a one-carton job); or checking out websites like HiPages, Airtasker, Hire a Hubby, Yellow Pages or Gumtree to find a local handyman to come to your rescue.
